Born and raised in Puerto Rico, Chef Mayra Alejandra’s 18-plus years of professional training and experience stem from a love for cooking with her mother at a young age. Now as InterContinental San Juan's first female executive chef, she is behind all of the bold, innovative, and infused flavors you will find throughout the resort's entire dining portfolio, including all catering and meeting or event functions. The distinguished chef is also a passionate supporter of the local community, not only pulling inspiration from the rich history and vibrant culture of Puerto Rico but also participating in renowned culinary events including Cattleman’s BBQ Chef Challenge as both a competitor and judge, various charity events throughout Puerto Rico, and as a featured chef at Saborea Puerto Rico, the largest culinary festival in the Caribbean.
